DESCRIPTION
More than half a century after its release, the 1966 round 50 cent coin remains one of Australia's most recognisable and sought-after coins. This long necklace showcases an authentic example, framed in rose gold plate and suspended from a sterling silver ball chain accented with rose gold-filled beads.
Originally struck in 80% silver, the round 50 cent was withdrawn after its inaugural year when the value of its silver content made continued production impractical. No round 50 cent coins have been issued since.
